Doctors who wish to pursue post graduate specialization i.e., MD/MS/PG Diploma has to mandatorily appear in NEET PG and qualify in the same by securing 50 percentile marks. NEET PG is a national level entrance exam in India conducted by National Board of Examination (NBE) once a year. NEET PG is generally conducted on online mode.

NEET PG is mandatory for the following categories of colleges

NEET UG Exam is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) body formed by ministry of HRD, Govt of India. Neet UG is a pen and paper based exam with objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Botany & Zoology. Syllabus is based on class 11 and 12. Neet UG is conducted for 180 minutes (3hrs) comprising 180 questions. There is a change in the pattern of questions compared to last year there is around 200 questions instead of 180 and comprises of 50 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany with 4 marks per question and max marks of 720. Every student has to attempt only 45 questions per subject and +4 marks to be awarded for correct answer and -1 mark deducted for wrong answer.

• All private medical colleges, institutions & universities/Deemed universities across the country.

• Armed Forces Medical College, Pune.

• Post MBBS DNB courses & Post MBBS NBE Diploma courses.

NEET is not required for the following institutions

• AIIMS New Delhi & other AIIMS

• PGIMER, Chandigarh

• JIPMER, Pondicherry

• NIMHANS, Bangalore

• Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology, Trivandrum

Indian origin students who have pursued MBBS program outside India has to first pass in FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) conducted by NBE (National Board Examination) before appearing to NEET PG.

Just by appearing in NEET PG student will not get an entry into MD/MS program, after the NEET results one has to appear for various counselings to secure a seat.

State counseling conducted by counseling body under the individual state government Individual state govt conducts counseling to remaining seats in Govt medical colleges of that states and also for 100% seats in self financed private colleges who are affiliated to state govt universities.

In India colleges are divided into following categories:

• Govt Medical Colleges in every state including ESIC affiliated to state govt universities.

• Central universities like AIIMS, JIPMER, BHU, PGIMER and AFMC.

• Deemed to be universities.

• Self financed private colleges affiliated to state govt universities.

MCC conducted counseling for the following colleges:

• 50% All India quota seats of all states expect J&K.

• 100% States (All India Quota Seats + Institutional Quota Seats) of central universities like Aligarh Muslim University, Banaras Hindu University, Delhi University and Central Institutes as per eligibility conditions specified.

• 100% Seats in Deemed Universities.

• 50% AIQ PG seats of colleges under Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).

• All PG seats of Armed Forces Medical Colleges, Pune.

• Central institutions, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, ABVIMS & RMK Hospital and ESIC institute. PGIMSR, Basaidarapur (50% AIQ seats & 50% IP University).

very college/ university has its own cut off rank which depends on category of seats and clinical specialities.
